How is Lip Filler Performed? The Procedure

- Consultation and Design: Before starting the procedure, the most suitable lip shape and volume for the individual’s facial structure are first determined.
- Anesthesia: To ensure the application is painless and comfortable, a local anesthetic cream is applied to the lip area at least half an hour before the procedure to ensure the area is completely numbed.
- Injection: The filler material is carefully injected into designated points of the lip using very fine-tipped needles (or cannulas). The procedure is not performed at the same points for every individual; it is applied with special techniques to the red area of the lower or upper lip or to the border area called the lip contour, according to the patient’s needs.

Is lip filler painful?
While the lips are a sensitive area, the procedure is generally quite tolerable. Before the treatment, a strong topical numbing cream is applied to minimize any discomfort. Additionally, most modern dermal fillers contain Lidocaine, a local anesthetic that numbs the area during the injection. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch or pressure rather than actual pain.
Is 1ml of lip filler too much?
Actually, 1ml (one syringe) is the standard amount for lip fillers and typically provides a very subtle, natural-looking result. However, it is important to note that only temporary fillers can be dissolved; permanent or silicone-based fillers cannot be reversed with this method.
What should I avoid after lip fillers?
To ensure the best results and minimize swelling after lip fillers, please follow these aftercare guidelines:
- Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging your lips for at least 24 hours.
- Refrain from strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot tubs for the first 24 to 48 hours.

- Avoid applying makeup or lip balm to the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent infection.
- Skip the straw: Using a straw creates pressure and muscle movement that may affect the filler’s placement in the first day.
